Birthday Sessions – Best Practices
You’ve been planning this session for weeks, you have the color scheme, the theme, everything is planned out. You’ve been daydreaming about all the cute images your fur baby is going to cooperate for. These dreams are in danger of remaining imaginary, unless you follow these 5 tips for a successful birthday session.
- Plan for the worst parts of your dogs temperament. If your dog is finicky and only likes certain treats, bring plenty of his favorite treats. If you think you’ve grabbed enough might as well add another handful to that just in case. If your dog gets overstimulated bring something of his that he finds comforting and make sure to plan in extra time to build in breaks so your dog can enjoy this as much as you are.
- Plan for surprise changes in weather. We all know the story, you’ve checked your weather app, you’ve confirmed its blue skies all day with no chance of rain. Two hours later you’re standing in sopping wet clothes, with a wet dog, just trying to make it home in one piece. Have a quick backup location planned, bring umbrellas, a change of clothes, towels, etc. be prepared for the possibilities of the season and you’re sure to come through with some great shots.
